Bitlogic Technology Ghana ("Koursio", "we", "our", or "us") operates the Koursio mobile application and web platform at https://koursio.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information.

1. Who We Are

Koursio is an educational assessment platform operated by Bitlogic Technology Ghana. We provide online assessments, quizzes, and learning tools for students, teachers, and lifelong learners primarily in Ghana and across West Africa.

2. Users and Age Groups

Our platform serves the following user types:

• Students — including minors aged 13 and above
• Teachers — educators using the platform for assessment creation and tracking
• Parents/Guardians — who oversee their children's learning progress

Children Under 13: We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If a child under 13 wishes to use Koursio, a parent or guardian must provide verifiable consent. We collect only the minimum information necessary for the child to use the platform.

Users Aged 13–17: Minors between 13 and 17 may use Koursio. We collect parent/guardian contact details and require parental consent acknowledgement during registration.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Provide

• Full name, email address, phone number
• Date of birth and gender
• Country, state/region, city, and postal code
• Education level and user type (student, teacher, parent)
• Parent/guardian name, email, phone, and relationship (for minors)
• Profile photo
• Account credentials (password stored securely hashed)

3.2 Information Generated Through Use

• Assessment responses, scores, and completion data
• Learning progress, XP, level, streaks, and achievements
• Credit balance and payment transaction history
• Notification preferences and app settings
• Device information and IP address

3.3 Payment Information

We use Paystack as our payment processor for mobile money transactions. We do not store your mobile money PIN or full payment credentials. Paystack processes and secures all payment data in accordance with PCI DSS standards.

4. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain our assessment and learning services
• To create and manage your account
• To track your learning progress and generate performance reports
• To process credit top-ups and payment transactions
• To send assessment reminders and important notifications
• To enable gamification features (leaderboards, badges, achievements)
• To communicate service updates, security alerts, and support messages
• To improve our platform based on usage patterns
• To comply with legal obligations under Ghanaian law

5. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data based on:

• Consent — you provide explicit consent at registration and for marketing communications
• Contract — processing necessary to provide our assessment services
• Legitimate interest — improving our platform and ensuring security
• Legal obligation — compliance with Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843)

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

• Payment processors — Paystack, for processing mobile money and card payments
• Cloud hosting providers — for secure data storage and platform operation
• Teachers/Institutions — if you are enrolled in an institutional account, your assessment results may be shared with your assigned teacher
• Parents/Guardians — may access their child's assessment data and progress
• Law enforcement — only when required by Ghanaian law or valid court order

We do not transfer your data outside Ghana/West Africa except for cloud hosting services that maintain adequate data protection standards.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures including:

• Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
• Secure password hashing (bcrypt)
• Token-based authentication for mobile access
• Regular security updates and monitoring
• Access controls limiting who can view personal data

While we strive to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

• Active accounts: We retain your data for as long as your account is active.
• Assessment records: Kept for the duration of your account for academic tracking purposes.
• Payment records: Retained for 7 years as required by Ghanaian tax law.
• Deleted accounts: Personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion. Anonymised aggregate data may be retained for analytics.

9. Your Rights

Under the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of your personal data
• Correction — update or correct inaccurate information
• Deletion — delete your account and all associated data
• Withdraw consent — opt out of marketing communications at any time
• Data portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
• Restrict processing — limit how we use your data

Our web platform uses essential cookies to maintain your session. The mobile app uses local storage for authentication tokens and preferences. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

• Google Sign-In — for convenient authentication (Google Privacy Policy applies)
• Paystack — for payment processing (Paystack Privacy Policy applies)

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of Koursio after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
